Exercise Eleven

Lyndon State College campus tour from soundslide
Most people, but not everyone, usually first comes to LyndonState College on a tour group.
The tour consists of meeting with a tour leader, whose title is a Student Ambassador. The group, or select individuals, who are on the tour get a detailed explanation of the school.
They are shown everything from the admissions office to the library to the pool to maybe one or two dorms. Each student’s tour is unique because of when they take their tour and who their leader is.
We asked a couple of students what their favorite spots and parts of the tour were we got different results. Stephanie Burke, sophomore and Animation Major changing to Music Business, said her favorite part of the tour was the view, “…the view of campus, because it’s very nice here.”
When asked what else about the campus she liked she gave this quote, “the HAC building and seeing all of the artwork there.” Burke had toured the campus in the Fall, she was also asked if the time of year had an input on her decision to come here and she said it did not.
Another student who was asked the same questions was Jenna Twarog, a sophomore and Music Business Major who is changing to Social Work, said what stood out at her LSC tour was the studio [the music studio]. Twarog visited also in the Fall and said she that the colors and feeling about Fall up here in Vermont made a difference for some students and some parents, but did not say if it did for her.
Some people come to LSC who have not taken a college campus tour. Melissa Segall, Atmospheric Science Major and a member of the SGA Board, did not come to the college after having taken a tour here, she said she just had faith it would be what she needed.
“And I didn’t mind not seeing it, but if I had it probably just would’ve made me want to come even more. I based my choice on the reputation of the program alone but LSC has a lot more than that. Either way it’s good to have ended up here.”
In many cases taking a tour of Lyndon State College, or any college is a good thing. That way the prospecting students and parents can get a feel for the college.

Even though some people choose not to take the tour offered by the college, many others do. Either way, the students and families are happy with the choice and are still here. And on any given day you can see the many reasons why students love this place for everything it offers and much more.
